We are very excited for this. A new studio after the (untimely?) demise of Montana, as well has a lot of new material. Hope to see you there!
Well we all pretty much knew this day was coming – for all intents and purposes Montana Studios is no more.
After almost 15 years of practicing in Room C at Montana, the building has been sold. It was a great run and I think we’d be foolish to not feel lucky to have been a part of it for as long as we were. Literally hundreds of people had come to Montana to hang out for a couple of hours and hear us play – I think that most of them would agree, the place was totally unique. One of a kind.
Just to be clear: there are murmurs of the business moving to New Jersey, but to us it was always about the building, hanging out on the roof and the special vibe the place had. The end of an era for sure.
Maybe they’ll take the original 3 foot by 5 foot Jimi Hendrix Woodstock print that I stared at weekly for 15 years with them – but it will not be the same.
It was amazing to have our great friend Scott Braun back in the studio with us last week – it’s always a blast to see him. We definitely sat around talking more than we actually played, but we did manage to get on stage for enough time for Scott to grab some typically awesome shots one of which is posted above. Scott, let’s not make it so long between visits next time, deal?
We’ve been patiently working on new material and are to the point now where we have more than enough to begin thinking about returning to the studio to record another batch of songs. We’re shooting for early / mid May to head back in and knock out round two.
In the meantime, we’ll probably be scheduling some shows in the NYC area to work through arrangements and check on how the new stuff is received. Hope to see you there!
