Arlene’s Grocery

We are very excited for this.  A new studio after the (untimely?) demise of Montana, as well has a lot of new material.  Hope to see you there!

Montana RIP

Well we all pretty much knew this day was coming  – for all intents and purposes Montana Studios is no more.

After almost 15 years of practicing in Room C at Montana, the building has been sold.  It was a great run and I think we’d be foolish to not feel lucky to have been a part of it for as long as we were.  Literally hundreds of people had come to Montana to hang out for a couple of hours and hear us play – I think that most of them would agree, the place was totally unique.  One of a kind.

Just to be clear: there are murmurs of the business moving to New Jersey, but to us it was always about the building, hanging out on the roof and the special vibe the place had.  The end of an era for sure.

Maybe they’ll take the original 3 foot by 5 foot Jimi Hendrix Woodstock print that I stared at weekly for 15 years with them – but it will not be the same.

Another Night of Debauchery

It was amazing to have our great friend Scott Braun back in the studio with us last week – it’s always a blast to see him.  We definitely sat around talking more than  we actually played, but we did manage to get on stage for enough time for Scott to grab some typically awesome shots one of which is posted above.  Scott, let’s not make it so long between visits next time, deal?

Round Two

We’ve been patiently working on new material and are to the point now where we have more than enough to begin thinking about returning to the studio to record another batch of songs.  We’re shooting for early / mid May to head back in and knock out round two.

In the meantime, we’ll probably be scheduling some shows in the NYC area to work through arrangements and check on how the new stuff is received.  Hope to see you there!

And yet another one . . .

l (1)

At this point I think it’s only right that we begin to question our choices in terms of bars.   First Blaggard’s, then McCorrmack’s and now Cody’s – all victims of NYC rising rents, health code violations or general gentrification.  Be that as it may, they were all comfortable hang outs run by real people who took the time to know your name and a little bit about you.

At any rate this isn’t good news for our newest hang out up by Montana:  Jake’s Saloon, you are now square in the cross hairs.  We sincerely hope that you will not fall victim to The Curse of The Rub.  But if history is any indication, the clock is ticking . . .

Fontana’s – Thursday June 12th

We’ll be back at Fontana’s on June 12th.  For those of you that were at our first show there, you’ll remember what a great place it is.  Hopefully it won’t rain cats and dogs again this time, but even if it does – we’ll still have a lot of fun.

Hope to see you there!

It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane . . .

Last week Matt had a stroke of brilliance, the type of moment of clarity he is altogether unaccustomed to.  He had an idea, maybe his best ever:  The Polish Tornado ¾ length T-Shirt.

You may remember that Mike had bestowed upon himself the moniker “The Polish Tornado”.  We think (and will continue to believe until presented with facts that prove us wrong) that this stands as the single most awesome self-given nickname in the history of nicknames.

Behold, the Polish Tornado T-Shirt complete with really stupid looking tornado:
